The Turbo Air TOM-48DXB-N vertical open display case's cold temperatures are provided by R-290 hydrocarbon refrigerant and a self-contained system that requires no plumbing. A solar-powered digital thermometer and digital electronic thermostat with defrost control work to maintain these temperatures. Dust buildup is removed from the condenser two to three times a day by a self-cleaning brush; this prevents system failures caused by an overheated compressor.
